SOMI participates in person to person witnessing, provides food to the hungry, clothes the naked and poorly dressed, disciples young Christians, facilitates access to health care, promotes literacy and acquisition of vocational skills.

These varied aspects of the ministry have been made possible through a few Christian voluntary workers and churches within Nairobi. SOMI seeks to understand the totality of problems facing slum dwellers, with a view to bring about more comprehensive and sustainable release: spiritual, mental, social and economic; fostering godliness along with material self reliance.
